Boys and girls who have received their First Holy Communion are invited to liturgical ministry by assisting the priest at the altar. Altar servers carry the processional cross and candles during the beginning and end of Mass, assist with preparing the altar, and have the care of the Roman Missal that contains the written prayers for our Liturgy. Children inquiring about becoming an altar server can contact the Parish Center and leave a message for Claudia Ponce; 310-679-1139. |
Monaguillos
Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion
In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers for Holy Communion so that it can be distributed in an orderly and reverent manner. Bishops, Priests and Deacons distribute Holy Communion by virtue of their office as ordinary ministers of the Body and Blood of the Lord. When the size of the congregation requires it, the presider may be assisted by extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, who receive sufficient spiritual, theological and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.
For more information, please contact Cecilia Williams by leaving a message with our receptionist 310-679-1139, make sure to leave your name and phone number.

Lectors
A lector proclaims the first reading from the Hebrew scripture and the second reading during the liturgy. In addition, the lector may process in with the book of the gospels in the absence of a deacon, give voice to the Prayer of the Faithful, and make the welcoming and announcements near the end of Mass. There is a special charisma granted for this ministry and our lector coordinator helps those who are interested know if they have received the gift.
If interested in proclaiming the Word of God within the liturgical celebration in English contact Leatrice Brown. For Spanish lectors contact Ramon Franco.
